Reductil is a diet drug that is designed to create rapid weight loss in overweight and obese people . The active ingredient in Reductil is sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate. This drug essentially works by influencing the actions of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. Since Reductil prevents the neurotransmitters from delivering hunger signals to your brain, you can easily reduce food intake without starving.
WARNING:
Reductil and weight loss supplements containing Sibutramine which was previously one of the most common prescribed weight loss drugs has been banned across Europe for patient safety.
We suggest opting for a natural alternative such as Proactol, or Unique Hoodia.
Reductil is intended to treat people with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher. In cases where the BMI is 27 or higher, but the patient has additional risk factors caused by obesity, such as diabetes or high cholesterol levels, it is permitted to use Reductil as well. Reductil should be used only by those who have failed to lose weight with traditional diet and exercise, and merely need a jump start to their weight loss. It is important to continue with a low fat diet and exercise programmes to get the maximum benefit from Reductil. This is a prescription medication which should be obtained only through your physician.
Sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate, Reductil’s active ingredient, works by affecting the way brain neurotransmitters function. Neurotransmitters are the brain chemicals responsible for sending messages between brain cells. Normally, once a message has been successfully transmitted, the neurotransmitters will be absorbed back into the brain.
Reductil stops the reabsorption of two key neurotransmitters: Noradrenaline and Serotonin. Since these are the neurotransmitters that are responsible for feelings, they have a direct relation to satiety. When the levels of noradrenaline and serotonin are continually higher than usual, your feelings of fullness are greatly enhanced.

Reductil may have some minor side effects. This drug occasionally causes dizzy spells or sleepiness in some patients. Reductil is not a good choice for pregnant or nursing women as this drug can cause problems in fetal development. Some patients find they must refrain from driving a vehicle while on Reductil, so use caution until you know how the drug affects you. Make certain that you understand any possible side effects prior to taking Reductil. When you begin taking Reductil, closely monitor your own reactions, and advise your health care provider of any ususual problems.
Ultimately this is your doctor’s decision. Most people who meet the BMI requirements are good candidates for Reductil. Pregnant women, or women who may become pregnant, should avoid taking Reductil. The use of some type of pregnancy prevention while taking this drug is advisable.
Any patient who suffers from hypertension or heart trouble must be regularly monitored while taking Reductil. Weight must also be closely monitored. If you are unable to lose a minimum of 5% of your total body weight during the first 3 months of taking Reductil, you may need to stop. Check with your doctor if you are not losing weight while taking this drug.
The active ingredient in Reductil, sibutramine, works in the area of the brain that signals the sense of fullness (satiety). Reductil is marketed in the US as Meridia – and it does not suppress appetite, which is your signal to start eating – most people think that it’s an appetite suppressant but actually it just tells your stomach that you are full.
